Interesting "Inside Scoop" Show on Immigration

As angry as I continue to be over the despicable "Thomas Paine Patriot" comments last year (for which we STILL haven't received a public apology), I've got to say that George "Thomas Paine Patriot" Burke does a great job as host on this one.  Also, see Korean American Development Corps founder Annabel Park give her thoughts on the issue (when she can get a word in edgewise, that is), Arnedo Valera of the Migrant Heritage Commission, and Republican operative Michael Lane.

I found it very interesting that Lane admitted, point blank, that Republicans in Virginia were using illegal immigration as an issue to help "change the subject" and save themselves with voters this November.  Also, he had no real answer for why Republicans -- who control both the State Senate and House of Delegates -- had time to pass abuser fees but not legislation dealing with immigration at the state level.  Lane also admits that "immigration is essentially the domain of the federal government."  Fascinating, huh?

I will have to take a look, especially as Annabel (teacherken - 9/11/2007 8:27:18 AM)
asked me to be on the show - I told her it was not my area of expertise, although I think the invitation was as a result of a conversation we and Eric had at the Crab Feast in FC on Saturday.  I'm glad it went well.

Ah, Mike Lane (Sui Juris - 9/11/2007 12:40:40 PM)
I thought I recognized him.  1999 seems so very long ago, in Arlington . . .

The results from that election (Lowell - 9/11/2007 3:23:31 PM)
are available here:

Ferguson: 21,699
Monroe: 18,720
Lane: 17,765

That's actually a good showing for a Republican in Arlington.

well (Sui Juris - 9/11/2007 4:07:03 PM)
this -
http://www.co.arling... is the election I remember him for . . .

I remember that too. (Lowell - 9/12/2007 6:06:51 AM)
From talking to Arlington Democrats, the consensus seems to be that that Lane is simply a Republican Party operative, doesn't really have any strong core convictions -- certainly not on this issue.
