State Party Executive Director Charlie Judd told a Saturday morning gathering in Virginia Beach that the Republican Party of Virginia is "crafting a message we can deliver" in the next ten days. Expect the leadership in Richmond, the House and Senate leadership, to focus on three to five very specific issues. These issues will form the central focus of a "Republicans for a Reason" campaign.

The campaign will develop points around these issues:

- effectively dealing with immigration (as the first step in "addressing a problem a lot of people in Virginia are concerned about")

- education (not that it is broken)

- spending

- fixing the abuser fee quirk (in the law the Governor snookered on the General Assembly when he sent the amendments back)
Underlining the theme, he also staked the claim that ten years of Republican leadership in Virginia have resulted in the recognition as best governed state, best state for business, best state for preparing children for success, and second best state for entrepreneurs, among other achievements. This looks to be an aggressive and well financed move to the offensive by the Republican Party in response to the reversal of fortunes of this past year.
