DEMPAC - Help Us Help You!

This message was sent by DEMPAC today to the 2007 VA house and senate campaigns. I thought the Raising Kaine community might also benefit from the message, so I'm duplicating it here!

Candidates, Campaign Managers, and Support Staff

Over the last few months, we've tried to make contact with as many campaigns as possible. However, for those of you who we haven't talked to yet, we are DEMPAC - Virginia Democrats for an Enduring Majority PAC. Our goal is to create and sustain a permanent volunteer community in the Commonwealth; one that will outlast the yearly campaign cycle. We endeavor to do this by the creative application of available technology and by working with the state party to develop new technology innovations. Now that Labor Day has passed and the election season is upon us, we want to do everything we can to help leverage the community we've started in order to help you.

Help Us Help You
In the weeks leading up to the campaign (starting next week), we will be sending out a weekly newsletter to our volunteer list encouraging them to help your campaigns and providing them with volunteer opportunities. We need your help! We're going to be driving our volunteers to the two places that we've chosen to act as the online hub for volunteer opportunities: the DPVA website and the newly launched YouRoots. If you help us by providing information to these two websites, we'll help you by driving volunteers to them.

We need your events
DPVA's site, http://www.vademocra... , acts as a central repository for campaign events. It has a search feature for events by location, and those events can be searched by groups as well. We encourage you, over the next week, to go to the website, create a group for your campaign, and start putting in your campaign events. It's easy, and once you've entered in that information, it then becomes a resource for everyone, statewide.

We need your volunteer needs
The newly launched volunteer community website YouRoots (http://www.youroots....), has a feature called The Marketplace. The Marketplace is intended to act as a classified system for finding and acquiring volunteers by skill-set. Campaigns can post their volunteer needs (ex. we need volunteers who speak Spanish for phone banks), and volunteers can post their skills as well (ex. Joe is a talented database organizer). The idea here is to match volunteers with opportunities that are to their liking so as to motivate them to get involved.  We encourage you to make use of this feature, especially in the next week before we start driving volunteers to it.

YouRoots continues to grow
YouRoots had its official launch to the Raising Kaine community just last week. While we've chosen to start with The Marketplace, look forward to many new features in the coming months. In addition to the Marketplace, we currently offer feeds of events and news from the DPVA website as well as all of the statewide progressive blogs. Our goal is to eventually turn YouRoots into the very place where volunteers go to find opportunities in Virginia.

So, once again, we're asking for your help.
Visit http://www.vademocra... and enter in your campaign events, and visit http://www.youroots.... to put your volunteer needs into the Marketplace. The more information you provide, the more volunteers we can connect with your campaign. It's that easy!

We look forward to working with you as the campaign season gets into full swing. DEMPAC strives to Turn Virginia Blue, and as such, we are always available to you. Please don't hesitate to email or call me if you have any questions or need help. To find out more about DEMPAC, see our page on YouRoots: http://www.dempac.or...

Good luck as November approaches! We're looking forward to helping you win!
