[UPDATE: The Sun Gazette has a photo slideshow.]  Congratulations to County Board candidate Mary Hynes, whose submission won the Arlington Democratic Party's annual Labor Day Chili Cook-Off!  Just about every elected official in Arlington came out for the event at the Lyon Park Community Center.  Rep. Jim Moran generated the most buzz with his arrival, but Commissioner of Revenue Ingrid Morroy stole the show with her band, The Constituents

I'm sure I'm missing some, but among those spotted in attendance were current County Board members Barbara Favola, Paul Ferguson (now running for County Clerk), Jay Fisette, Walter Tejada, and Chris Zimmerman; Dels. Bob Brink, Adam Ebbin, Al Eisenberg, and David Englin; and state Sen. Mary Margaret Whipple.  Del. Ebbin hooked me up with one of his t-shirts, which was in Redskins team colors -- coincidence or savvy marketing?

One other note for Arlington Democrats, the ACDC's new Electoral Practices Commission will hold a public hearing Wednesday, September 12th from 7:30 to 9:30pm at the Arlington Central Library (1015 N. Quincy St., closest Metro is Ballston).  According to the ACDC website, it will give the general public an opportunity to comment on how candidates should conduct campaigns. Chairman Peter Rousselot named the 18-member commission to look into campaign practices after the controversy over the way the spring primary campaign for treasurer was conducted.
