Janet Oleszek Fundraiser with Tim Kaine

I attended an excellent event for 37th State Senate candidate Janet Oleszek tonight in Burke.  As you can see, Tim Kaine was there, reunited with the rest of the "TLC" team -- Leslie Byrne and Creigh Deeds.  In addition, there were about 70-80 guests and apparently a large amount of money raised.  The general mood was very optimistic, with Governor Kaine observing that about 7-9 Republican-controlled Senate seats were competitive right now, plus as many as 15 House seats.  Kaine urged people to give him a General Assembly he can work with so that he doesn't get stuck with a "crummy" bill like the transportation legislation sent to him by the Republicans.  Kaine also talked about the things he could get done on education, the environment, and other important areas with a Democratic-controlled legislature.

Janet Oleszek talked about education and more education.  That's her theme, it's a great one, and she's sticking with it! :)  She also noted that her opponent is a rigid ideologue who talks to an elephant.  OK, just kidding about the elephant part, but Cooch DOES talk to a toy elephant named "Ron;" the question is whether he's kidding or not.

By the way, I saw a lot of Republican signs driving on Old Keene Mill Road.  True, signs don't vote, but I sure hope to see more Democratic signs the next time I'm out that way!

Do you think Leslie is serious about running for Davis's seat?  A lot of people really like her.

She's thinking about it. (Lowell - 8/30/2007 10:19:49 PM)
That's all I really know.

"Kaine urged people to give him a General Assembly he can work with so that he doesn't get stuck with a "crummy" bill like the transportation legislation sent to him by the Republicans."

Nothing stopping him from fixing it right now.  Oh, thats right "Just wait till January".  Or September, I forget.  Does VA work of FU's these days.  "Crummy",  got that right.

70-80? (Doug in Mount Vernon - 8/31/2007 1:00:26 AM)
I may be wrong, but I counted 75 people within the left side of the audience while Tim was speaking.  I think there were closer to 150 there if you count all the kids and the folks that hung out in the garden during the speeches....maybe it's actually somewhere in between...

It was a GREAT event, and what a phenonmenally gorgeous garden!  I say that as an avid and long-time gardener.  It was something.

I can't spell... (Doug in Mount Vernon - 8/31/2007 1:04:10 AM)

You stated in your own defense:
"This is 100% flat-out wrong. Every single post I've made on this blog has contained a valid point, relevent to the topic at hand, and in continuation of the discussion in the thread. You may not agree with my posts, but trying to say that I do not focus on the point of the conversation is a lie. In fact, there have been numerous times where I post a valid point, and in response I am called a troll (which I consider an ad hominem attack), and the point of discussion I make is completely ignored."

How is this comment relevant to the fundraiser held last night?  Further what evidence is there to support this accusation (i.e. your assertion that every point you make is valid)?
