Several big names went to bat for Albert Pollard this past weekend including fmr. Gov. Mark Warner, Sen. Edd Houck (D-17), and Tayloe Murphy, who served as a Delegate, Sec. of Natural Resources and Chair of the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.

While Warner and Houck both urged Virginians to help send Al Pollard to the Senate, it should be noted that Edd Houck is up against a spirited challenge himself from Chris "Yak!" Yakabouski. While likely to remain in Dem hands, Republicans are definetly not conceding the seat. Edd's commitment to helping Al Pollard is just another great example of the unity being demonstrated by local Dem nominees for the General Assembly, Sen. Houck, Albert Pollard, Carlos Del Toro, Bill Day, and Clyde Matthews.

Governor Mark Warner Stumps for Pollard

Former Governor Mark Warner touts Pollard's bipartisan approach as his opponent's supporters resort to petty tactics

Former Governor Mark Warner and Senator Edd Houck of Spotsylvania spoke to an enthusiastic crowd at an event held for Albert Pollard, candidate for State Senate, at the Rowser Building in Stafford. Both Warner and Houck not only had complimentary words about Albert Pollard, but also encouraged the crowd to give their time to get Pollard elected.

"Albert, I want you as a colleague. I want you there because we need to make sure we have a sensible center in Virginia and we need someone we know will do an outstanding job." said Houck.

"Albert Pollard brought independence, he brought smarts, he brought a creativity and a people-person approach to the legislature." Said Warner. "And let me testify, he was always an independent voice for his constituents."

While Pollard's opponent's campaign took time to block the Pollard yard signs that marked the event being held, Albert spoke about his experience serving Virginia and his ability to rise above the pettiness that is seeping into Virginia politics.

Also in the audience was Former Delegate and Secretary of Natural Resources Tayloe Murphy showing his support for Albert Pollard.

Pollard said, "I am proud to stand next to these Virginian leaders and humbled to hear their kind words. With the support of the voters of the 28th Senate District I look forward to working to making our systems of education, transportation and the environment work for Virginians."

Pollard is running for the 28th Senate District seat held by Senator John Chichester, who has decided to retire after serving Virginia for 29 years. He represented the 99th House of Delegates District for six years and prided himself in working across party lines. The election will be held in November.
