Anti-Pollard Smear Machine in Full Swing

"While I promise you that I will fight hard and tirelessly for this seat, I give you my word as a Virginia Gentleman that I will not participate in any negativity and will not condone any on my behalf."

- Richard Stuart

Maybe Mr. Stuart had one too many shots of Virginia Gentleman when he made this claim. A four year-old could tell you that Republicans and integrity go together like George Allen at the Apollo Theater. Mr. Stuart seems like a decent fellow, but his supporters are an entirely different matter.

Recently I was made aware that a Republican in the Northern Neck recieved a robo-call stating that Albert Pollard voted for the abuser fees. Not only was Pollard not in the General Assembly when that vote was cast....But he is AGAINST the fees. Richard Stuart, on the other hand, has taken the opposite position!

Also, until recently, if you type in www.albertpollard.com, you got sent to the Stafford GOP's website. According to records, the site was registered to 'Albert Mussgo' from '911 Liberal Lane' in Swope, VA.
Saying Albert "Mussgo" plus a robo-call saying he voted for the abuser fees both suggest that someone is trying to convince voters that FORMER Delegate Pollard is NOW currently in the General Assembly, and they're trying use the anti-incumbent attitude the voters currently feel AGAINST ALBERT.

Of course Richard Stuart said he knows nothing about it, and he could very well be telling the truth. But calling Albert a resident of '911 Liberal Lane' comes not that long after Stuart described him as "liberal as they come." The same "liberal" Pollard that enjoys massive support from Republicans throughout the 28th district (including Stuart himself a few years ago!).

I'm just in shock it took 'em this long to start the smear campaign. Come on Rethuglican losers, it's almost September....it took you this long to make stuff up?

Pollard Voted Against Them Twice (Not Harry F. Byrd, Sr. - 8/26/2007 11:51:14 PM)
Actually, Pollard did have a shot at voting on Albo's first bill back when he was in during 2005, both on Committee:

http://leg1.state.va...

And in the GA as a whole:

http://leg1.state.va...

He voted AGAINST them both times.  So you're mostly right.

Good find (Chris Guy - 8/27/2007 1:45:07 AM)
As if those B.S. robo-calls couldn't get more ridiculous....

Campaign slogan: "Democrat Al Pollard voted AGAINST the abuser fees!" (soccerdem - 8/27/2007 7:48:07 AM)
I sure hope Al Pollard and his spin meisters, volunteers, and fans repeat and widely-publish this fact (subject).  But add to that:

"Republican Richard Stuart and his fellow Republicans are so desperate that they are openly lying about his opponent's vote on abuser fees.  Al Pollard voted "NO" everytime on Abuser Fees while in Richmond.

Mr. Stuart are you trying to provide cover for your fellow Republicans by lying about Al Pollard's record?  And Mr. Stuart wouldn't you have voted "YES" just like your fellow Republicans did to abuser fees?  After all you and fellow Republicans are against raising taxes, even a few cents!!!"

Chris -- great diary.  Keep them coming!

"S.O.S." (Same Ole..Stuff) in Stafford (hereinva - 8/27/2007 3:22:30 PM)
While folks in the southern portion of 28th District may be more civil in their "politic'ing"--not so in the Stafford region.

There is a history of faux front organizations,
i.e. "Citizens Against Sprawl", unauthorized/anonymous pamphlets and leaflets, anonymous message signage, and negative robo calls.

While Stuart may be civil in his campaigning..apparently some of his supporters prefer the loose canon approach.

So in summary be prepared for:

-mysterious/anonymous negative pamphlets
-unsigned/anonymous yard signs
-more negative robo-calls.
-advertisements by faux front organizations

If none of this pans out...it will indeed be an unusual election year.
